It comes with a single "Quick Start" file which allows you to create minimum-database games running with the English leagues. To start a new game, launch Championship Manager and click on the "Load Quick Start" button. Then click on the "Select" button and follow the game prompts from there. Games created with the demo can be played for approximately half a season. Sound has been disabled. Note - this demo runs only in the English language. For more information on all the new features in CM visit the SI or Feral websites. ----------------- Technical Support ----------------- Before contacting us for technical support please make sure that you have read the manual and/or checked the technical FAQs on the Feral website. If this does not solve the problem then e-mail cmsupport@feral.co.uk, or fax (44)-208-875-1846. ------------------- System Requirements ------------------- The minimum requirements for running the CM 4 demo are: either ¥MacOS version 9.2.2 with CarbonLib 1.6 or ¥MacOS X version 10.2 ¥333 Mhz PowerPC G3 ¥64 Mb RAM (requires virtual memory set to at least 192Mb) ¥1024x768 monitor monitor capable of running in 16bit ("thousands") mode ¥500Mb free disc space ¥Ethernet (required for network play) The recommended system requrements are: ¥MacOS X version 10.2 ¥500 Mhz Power PC G3 or better ¥256 Mb RAM or higher ¥1280x1024 monitor monitor capable of running in 32bit ("millions") mode It is hoped that by the games full release these requirements will be lower as optimisation of memory usage has not been completed yet. -------------- Install issues -------------- Missing Extensions: The CM4 Demo requires CarbonLib 1.6 or later to be installed in your computer's system folder. If this extension is not present CM4 will fail to run properly; typically, the desktop will show through the game screen. This problem is most likely to effect you if your computer is running Mac OS 9. You can get the latest versions of CarbonLib from Apple by using Software Update or downloading from: http://www.apple.com/updates. ------------ Video issues ------------ CM works best if your monitor's colour depth is set to 'millions of colours'. When you run CM in full screen mode, (this is the default) it will try to switch your monitor to 'millions of colours' automatically. If you choose to run CM in a window, it will leave your monitor settings alone. In this case you may wish to adjust the colour depth manually. You can do this by opening the 'Monitor' control panel (found under 'Control Panels' in the Apple Menu). ------------------ Performance issues ------------------ The most important factors in determining how smoothly the CM4 demo plays are your CPU speed and the amount of built-in RAM in your computer. The demo is playable with the minimum specifications listed above, but it is memory hungry and plays more smoothly on faster computers with more RAM. However, if you are dissatisfied with the performance of the game on your computer there are several things you can do to that are likely to improve performance: 1. Increase virtual memory: we recommend that you ENABLE virtual memory if your computer has 128 MB of RAM or less. If you don't know what virtual memory is, that's ok - it's on by default, but some users manually disable it. A good setting is twice the amount of installed physical RAM, but make sure it is at least 256 MB. To do this, open the 'Memory' control panel, turn virtual memory on, and set the box on the right to at least 256 MB (preferably more). Now restart your machine. 2. Turn off all unnecessary extensions. Having lots of extensions running on your system is a burden on its processing. Before launching the CM4 demo reduce the number of extensions your system is using. This is most easily done by selecting the 'base set' of extensions. From the extensions manager choose the base extensions set in the selected set drop down menu. Now restart your computer. 3. Close all other applications: You are strongly encouraged to quit all other applications before launching the CM4 demo - other applications will drain resources and slow the overall system down. 4. Clear Disk Space: Ensure that your main hard-disk has a lot of spare disk space. Note - some of the above do not pertain if your computer is running Mac OSX
