Ê Demo Requirements ¥ MacOS 8.6 or higher ¥ A G3 or G4 Macintosh or iMac ¥ Rage Pro or better 3D accelerator with at least 4 MB of memory (8 MB recommended) ¥ 64 MB of system memory (128 MB recommended) ¥ 80 MB of free disk space Demo Installation To install the Heavy Metal F.A.K.K. 2 Demo, download the HeavyMetalFAKKMac.sea.bin archive file, and if necessary double-click the file to decompress it. You will then have a folder on your hard drive called "Heavy Metal F.A.K.K.2 DEMO" containing the game and its data files, as well as some light reading material. (If you're looking at this file, you've probably already completed this step!) You may need to increase your Macintosh's virtual memory setting to play the game. To do this, open the "Memory" control panel found on the "Control Panels" submenu under the Apple menu. The game itself requires 100 MB to run, plus 32 MB free for 3D acceleration, plus the amount required by your system. If there isn't enough free memory, you will be prompted to increase the setting when the game runs. A setting of 192 MB will be more than enough to ensure proper operation. When you run the game, your Macintosh will be checked to ensure that you have up-to-date versions of certain key game-related system components. If you do not have them, you will be instructed to download the latest versions from Apple's web site. As an alternative, users of MacOS 9 or higher can use the Software Update control panel, found in the Control Panels submenu of the Apple menu, to update all their system software. The system components that may need to be updated, and their required versions, are: ¥ Apple Game Sprockets 1.7.5 ¥ QuickTime 4.1.2 ¥ OpenGL 1.1.2 Playing the demo On your hard drive, open the folder called "Heavy Metal F.A.K.K.2 DEMO" and double-click the "Heavy Metal DEMO" icon to run the game. On a Macintosh with a one-button mouse, the mouse button controls Julie's right hand. In the inventory screen, clicking the mouse button will select a sword or weapon for her to hold in her right hand. During gameplay, the mouse button can be used to attack with a weapon in Julie's right hand, or to use a two-handed weapon. To select or use a weapon for Julie's left hand, press the Command Key on your keyboard. If you're lucky enough to have a two-button mouse, the left button selects and uses weapons for Julie's left hand, and the right button selects and uses swords and weapons for Julie's right hand. Heavy Metal F.A.K.K. 2 The full version of the game features 25 beautiful and treacherous levels full of mind-bending puzzles and bone-jarring mayhem. Take on vicious bosses with over 20 brutal weapons, plus powerups and combo-based melee attacks. Make sure you're running with 32-bit textures if the screen is in 32-bit color, and 16-bit textures if the screen is in 16-bit color. Performance Tips The single biggest thing you can do to improve game performance is to add more memory (RAM) to your computer. A Mac with 128 MB of memory will run the game much more smoothly than one with 64 MB. Playing with 16-bit color and lower texture detail will increase performance as well.
