Important information about this Jewels of the Oracleª preview Congratulations on purchasing the preview of Jewels of the Oracleª! This document contains information to help you get optimum performance according to your hardware configuration. Please read this in order to understand all the choices available to you before you launch the program. You must be running System 7.1 and make sure you have the latest versions installed of QuickTime and Sound Extension (QuickTime 2.0 and Sound 3.0). Drag the CONTENTS of the "Put contents into System Folder" folder onto the System Folder. It contains the lastest version of QuickTime and Sound Manager. The Apple operating system will place the items in their correct location. RESTART YOUR COMPUTER! Jewels (256 colors) will display the game in 8-bit color or 256 colors on machines that have 6,000K (or 6Mb) of free RAM available. Jewels (thousands of colors) will display the game in 16-bit color or Thousands of colors on machines that have 9,000K (or 9Mb) of free RAM available. Jewels (millions of colors) is for those people with Quadra-class machines which supports millions of colors (but not thousands). There is a bit of a performance hit and you need a minimum of 13 megabytes of free memory, but it's better than having 256 colors as your only option. Jewels (for older Macs) If you have an older Mac, such as a IIci or IIvx, which uses a 68030 processor, you'll get better performance by selecting this option. You'll still need 8 megabytes of RAM. This option runs only in 256 colors. Do not run any other program in the background while playing this game. You should not be running virus protection software or screensavers either. Other programs may have resources not compatible with the game. For Macintosh users with only 8MB of RAM, it would probably be ideal to disable all extensions except for those needed to run QuickTime, Sound and your CD. TROUBLESHOOTING: Most problems will probably be memory related. For example, if you get sound, but no picture or video, you donÕt have enough RAM for the version you are running. Mac users should either choose Jewels (256 colors) or optimise your memory allocation by turning off all extensions (see above). Try setting your Memory Cache setting to 96 in your Memory Control Panel. IMPORTANT: If you have trouble hearing the Oracle, pressing Command Y or using the Repeat Command from the menu will make the Oracle say the line again as often as you wish. In addition, text of what the Oracle is saying can be displayed on screen by pressing Command T or using the Text Command from the menu. This CD-ROM is intended as a preview only. It does not contain the complete game. You can interrupt the opening video by pressing the space bar. The full-blown, complete game will be available in the first quarter of 1995. NOTE: This is not a razor-sharp-reflexes experience. DonÕt thrash. Take your time. Mental agility is far more valuable than eye\hand coordination. Copyright © 1994 Discis Knowledge Research Inc.
