Ê 2K5 - MacOS Demo Copyright © 1998 by Stefan Sinclair / DoomHammer Software All Rights Reserved About 2K5 2K5 is a fast paced 1 - 2 player fighting game for the Power Macintosh. You can play as any one of a variety of characters in either the solo-player scenario or head to head with another person over a computer network. Large high resolution graphics, stereo sound and intelligent computer opponents combine to deliver an arcade-style experience on your PowerMac. This demo version includes two (2) of the game characters, and the first round of the solo player scenario. Network games can also be played with the demo version. The full version of the game includes eight (8) playable characters, bosses, multi-level solo scenario and hundreds of megabytes of between-round movie animation. If that's still not enough, you can build your own custom game characters with the aid of the special tools and character-building instructions included with the full version of the game. For the latest information on the game, visit the 2K5 web page at: http://www.doomhammer.com/2K5.html The minimum system requirements are: - any Power Macintosh - System 7.5 or later - 12 MB free RAM (18 MB total RAM) - 640x480 display capable of 256 colors or more - 18 MB free hard drive space The recommended system is: - any Power Macintosh - System 7.5 or later - QuickTimeª 2.0 or later - NetSprocket 1.1.1 and OpenTransport 1.1.1 or later (for net gaming) - 25 MB free RAM (32 MB total RAM) - 640x480 display capable of 256 colors or more How to Play To get started, just double-click the game. Some introduction text will come up - feel free to read it, or click the mouse button to dispose of it. Once you are at the main screen, click on the "Instructions" button to learn all you need to know about such things as game controls, how to play the various types of games, etc. To learn the various moves for the game characters, you can: - option+click the character's picture when at the player selection screen to see a list of all their moves and button controls - read the character's READ ME file located in the "Game/Characters" folder Network Games (aka, where to get NetSprocketLib) Ê In order for you to be able to play networked games of 2K5, over either an AppleTalk network or TCP/IP network (including the Internet), you need to download and install Apple's "NetSprocketLib" in your system extensions folder. To get this file, either follow the link provided at the 2K5 web page: http://www.doomhammer.com/2K5.html or go to Apple's NetSprocket page: http://devworld.apple.com/dev/games/sdk_download.html PLEASE NOTE: it is very important that you download NetSprocket version 1.1.1 or later (if available), as versions 1.1 and earlier of NetSprocket have a bug in them that can cause your system to crash. As of this writing, the most recent version of NetSprocket is 1.1.1beta, and this version of NetSprocket will probably be the last one for some time to come. Remeber, download version 1.1.1 (beta is OK) or later. Once you have downloaded NetSprocket v1.1.1, place the file named "NetSprocketLib" in your system extensions folder, and you are good to go! We apologize that we are not allowed to include the NetSprocketLib file with the game for your convenience. OTHER IMPORTANT NOTES: ¥ One other important requirement for playing networked games of 2K5 is that the game must run using the standard high-resolution graphics for networked games, and not the low-resolution graphics (accessible through the game Options command). This means that the game will need 25 MB of free RAM available in order for networked games to work in most cases. ¥ While it is technically possible to play networked games over Internet/modem connections, standard modems (eg, 28.8, 56K) and the latency involved will result in poor game play. The game's networking is not bandwidth-hungry, just speed-hungry. Instead, we suggest that you instead play networked games over: - LocalTalk (phone-net) connections, a great low cost networking option available on all Macs - Ethernet (AppleTalk or TCP/IP) - high speed internet connection (T1, T3) if you are lucky enough to have access to this kind of speed How to Get the Full Version of the Game The full version of the game will be available on CD-ROM around the beginning of September 1998.
