TROUBLESHOOTING ================= If you usually have your monitor set to a resolution higher than 640x480, but switch back down to 640x480 while playing Shanghai: Dynasty Demo, you may find when you return to your higher resolution that the game is now placed at the top left corner of your screen. You can place the Shanghai: Dynasty screen wherever you like by simply holding down the mouse button and dragging it. If Shanghai: Dynasty Demo keeps quitting suddenly when you try to run it, the game may not have been installed properly. Try reinstalling it from the CD-ROM. Certain screen savers might conflict with Shanghai: Dynasty Demo. If this occurs, please disable your screen saver while playing. Program won't install. 1. You may have insufficient hard disk space for the program to copy the files it needs from the CD to your hard drive. Free up more hard disk space. 2. You may not have enough free RAM to run the installer. Make sure you aren't running any other application before installing. Once you have closed all the other applications, click to highlight the Shanghai Dynasty Installer icon on the CD, then go to the File Menu and select Get Info. Increase the Preferred Size number (in the bottom right corner) to a higher number (1000K, for example). Close the Get Info. box and try installing again. 3. Check that you are running System 7.5.1 or later. Shanghai: Dynasty may have problems on older systems. Game freezes. 1. Make sure your computer has at least 16 MB of RAM. 2. Make sure RAM doubler is disabled. No sound, partial sound, music, no voices, or sound effects. 1. Check the Install Size option you selected for installing the game. If you have selected Minimum Install, the redbook music will not play. 2. If you have speakers, make sure they are plugged in correctly, turned on, and the volume is turned up to an audible level. 3. Select the Sound control panel in the Apple menu and adjust volume. 4. Look in the Apple Menu (or in Extensions in the System folder) for the AppleCD Audio Player and make sure this is functioning. If you do not have this extension installed or if you have deleted it, contact Apple to obtain it. 5. If you have "Toast CD Reader" Driver/Extension, music will not play. Disabling it may render certain CD drives inoperable. 6. Make sure that you have not decreased the Minimum RAM Required for playing Shanghai: Dynasty in the Get Info box. If you need more RAM, turn on Virtual Memory. Game is too slow. 1. Make sure you are running Shanghai: Dynasty on a 66 Mhz 6100 or faster Power Macintosh. 2. If you have additional Hard Drive space, try a bigger install size (i.e. Standard or Medium Install). 3. Try turning off animations, especially if you're playing with multiple AI players.
