Shattered Steelª Mini-Bot-FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) Why can't I advance beyond mission 1? I keep returning to it, despite completing the mission successfully! You've made things a bit too easy for yourself - did you turn on invulnerability or unlimited ammo? If you did, either of these options will prevent you from advancing to the next mission. Why doesn't the mouse work? It is turned off by default. To turn it on, move the cursor to the menu bar. Select Edit->Game Preferences... and click on the Controls icon. Click on the mouse control checkbox. Does this demo version have music? Yes, but like some other options it is turned off by default. Unlike the full version, for space reasons the demo version uses QuickTime MIDI music files. Although this saves space, by using the software MIDI engine through QuickTime a substantial processing overhead is incurred, slowing down the game significantly. This is the reason why the music is turned off by default. To turn it on, just increase the music volume. Is there a way to show the current framerate of the game? I want to show how [blindingly fast/speedy/slow/chug-city] this game is! Yes. After being deployed onto the planet surface, type the return key. This enables chat mode. Type ÒfpsÓ and then press the return key. Now the speed of the game, measured in frames per second, will be shown, along with another number which displays the current gravitational attraction of the nearest black hole, in kilotons per square centimeter. Ok, that last bit was a lie. Just ignore the other number. Are there any cheats in the game? CÕmon, thereÕs got to be cheats, right? SHOW ME THE CHEATS!!! Well, maybe. LetÕs just say that IF there were cheats in the game, then they WOULD be activated by a similar method explained above in turning on the framerate display. It would depend on what you typed while in chat mode. Maybe. I have a 3D hardware accelerator card installed. Does Shattered Steelª take advantage of that? Currently, no. However, we are working on a QuickDraw 3D RAVE version which will take advantage of your 3D card. In fact, it might be finished by the time you are reading this. Visit by the Logicware web site for any updates and news (http://www.logicware.com/). The 3D accelerated version of Shattered Steel will be posted there first. Please note that a 3D accelerated version of Shattered Steel will not necessarily make the game run faster, but rather make the game run much prettier. You speed mileage may vary, depending on the 3D card brand (chipset) as well as the Mac CPU youÕre running on.
