Ghost Recon/Desert Siege for Mac OS About the Demo The demo allows you to play Quick Missions on one map (the Castle). There are three types of single-player game: Mission (accomplish a specific task), FireFight (eliminate the enemy), and Recon (move your team from one point to another without any casualties). You can select your team from a variety of specialists. If you chose the Mission game, you must take at least one Demolition specialist. The demo also allows you to play multiplayer games against other Macintosh demo users using TCP/IP (over LAN or the Internet). You will need to share the IP number of the server among the players before the game starts. The multiplayer game uses the same map, with the following categories: Solo, Team, and Co-op. Co-op is cooperative play of the same three game types as single-player. Solo is played as every person for themselves, with three game types: Sharpshooter (player with the most kills wins), Hamburger Hill (player spending the most time in the center wins), and Last Man Standing (last one left alive wins). Team is played as two or more teams, with up to 9 players in a team, and has three game types: Hamburger Hill (same as solo), Last Man Standing (last team with live members wins), and SAR (search and rescue - there are three invulnerable hostages on the map, the team that escorts them to extraction wins). Mac OS Specific Notes o Modifying the contents of the Ghost Recon Data folder may render the game unplayable. o The resolution and z-buffer depth options cannot be changed during gameplay. Miscellaneous Tips for Making the Game Run Faster There are certain options you can adjust in the game to allow for faster game play. From the main menu, click on the Options menu. From there you can manipulate the game options in a trial and error fashion to customize the game's detail and graphics levels for best performance on your machine. Some suggestions include: o Turn the graphic detail levels down to low o Uncheck the Show Dead Bodies option o Set the screen resolution to 640x480x16 o Turn the Character and Vehicle Shadows off General Gameplay Notes o If you assign soldiers to your teams in the Platoon Setup screen and then open the Options menu, all team assignments will be lost when you close the Options menu and return to Platoon Setup. o Players running in 1600x1200 resolution may find the in-game Command Map is difficult to read due to its small size. Multiplayer Notes and Troubleshooting Ghost Recon supports network play over a properly configured TCP/IP network ONLY. Please refer to the Troubleshooting Document for help with setting up such a network. To actually start a Multiplayer game, please refer to the Multiplayer section of the manual. Miscellaneous Tips for the Best Multiplayer Gaming Experience o Make sure the host is the fastest computer participating in the game. If the server is bogged down, it will distinctly affect the gameplay for all players. o The more players in the game, the more bandwidth is required. o In multiplayer games, if the number of players joining the game is greater than the number of player slots activated by the game server, the "extra" players will be put into observer mode. For example, if the server is configured with only two active platoons (with nine slots on each platoon), and 36 people join the game, 18 of them will enter combat as observers. MOD Issues NOTE: Aspyr Media Inc. can only provide support for the software we create. For this reason, we will not be able to provide support for third-party modifications. Please do not contact Technical Support for issues relating to these modifications. In addition, modifying the contents of the Ghost Recon Data folder may render the game unplayable. The first step with troubleshooting MOD related problems is to ensure you have installed the MOD correctly. Check the site where you downloaded the MOD for proper installation instructions. You may need to remove the MOD and ensure Ghost Recon runs correctly without the mod. If you continue to experience problems with the game after removing the MOD, try uninstalling the game completely and reinstalling it without adding the MOD. To fully return the Mods settings to the default state after joining a server, you need to return to the main menu. If you do not return to the main menu, you will enter a new game with the previous MOD settings.
