Minimum system software requirements:

o Mac OS 8.1
o QuickTime 3.0
o OpenGL 1.1.2
o DrawSprocket 1.7.3
o SoundSprocket 1.0
o InputSprocket 1.2 (optional)
o OpenTransport 1.0


General notes:

o If you experience any problems with InputSprocket support in the game, you can remove the InputSprocket extension from your Extensions folder, located inside the System folder. With the extension removed, Rogue Spear will fall back to its default mouse handling which does not rely on InputSprocket.

o If you have more than one monitor and selected the "Remember selected display" option, but want to subsequently change the selected display, hold down the shift key right after you double-click on the game's icon.

o If your computer has enough memory, the game can be played in higher resolutions. Increase the game's memory partition to 120 MB or more to see all the possible resolutions in the game options.

o Rogue Spear will work with virtual memory on. If you find that you are experiencing memory related problems and you cannot increase the application memory partition size further, try turning on virtual memory. (Clicking the "Use Defaults" button in the Memory control panel should turn on virtual memory and pick the default size.) If you're still having problems, only then try increasing the amount of virtual memory.

o OpenGL, which is the graphics library used to draw images in the game, makes use of system memory. If you are experiencing problems where the display turns gray or graphics appear to be missing, try decreasing the Rogue Spear memory partition size. This will free up more system memory for OpenGL to use.


Miscellaneous tips for making the game run faster:

There are certain things you can cut off in the game to allow for faster game play. From the main menu, click on the Options Menu. From there you can manipulate the Sound, Graphics, and Advanced options in a trial and error fashion to customize the game's detail and graphics levels for best performance on your machine.

For Example:

o Turn the detail level down to low.
o Turn off weather effects in the Advanced Options menu.
o Turn your resolution down to 640x480.
o In the game, reduce your cinema size by pressing the minus key several times.
o With custom missions, limit the number of terrorists.
o Quit all other running applications.
o Make sure you have OpenGL 1.2 or later installed.


Replay issues:

You cannot play replays that were recorded in Rogue Spear from Urban Operations. You must switch to Rogue Spear to view those replays. The inverse is also true. You must switch to Urban Operations to view those replays created while playing Urban Operations. Those replays will not run from Rogue Spear.


Miscellaneous tips for the best Multiplayer gaming experience:

o Make sure the host is the fastest computer participating in the game. If the server is bogged down, it will distinctly affect the gameplay for all players.

o The more players in the game, the more bandwidth is required.

o For small two player games, you may experience better performance with a 28.8k modem connection than with a 56k modem connection.
